Job summary

Hollybank Trustees Ltd is seeking a Basic Grade Medical Scientist - Biochemistry (FTC) based on site in Dublin. The role supports routine laboratory processing and coordination of the laboratory service in line with hospital mission and strategic plans.

The successful candidate will work across main laboratory disciplines, perform tests, and be responsible for processing and authorisation under the supervision of the Chief Medical Scientist and Laboratory Manager.

Qualifications

• Membership in the Academy of Medical Laboratory Science (AMLS) or equivalent.
• Registration with CORU.
• Minimum 1 year in-service training across all disciplines.
• Experience on emergency on-call rotas.

Responsibilities

• Assist in writing and enforcing procedures relating to all areas of the laboratory and its testing equipment.
• Assist in applying and implementing operational procedures to optimise use of resources.
• Assist in implementing a quality management programme that is patient centred and measures performance and client satisfaction.
• Perform scientific work to meet the required accreditation standards.
• Prioritise and organise work during busy periods and co-ordinate multiple concurrent testing.
• Participate in the Departmental on-call rota when required.
• Co-operate with staff in new ideas and technologies per Hospital policies.
