Job summary

Dornan Engineering Group, based in Dublin, is seeking a BIM Technician to support our Digital Construction Team. You will produce and update 3D BIM models for M&E services, develop coordinated drawings, and work with engineers and site teams to resolve clashes and maintain up-to-date documentation.

The role requires a BIM/Engineering qualification and hands-on experience with Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified in BIM, Engineering, Building Services or related discipline.
• Experience as a BIM Technician or similar in construction/building services.
• Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD; Navisworks knowledge is a plus.
• Understanding of mechanical/electrical services and construction documentation.
• Knowledge of BIM standards, modelling practices and clash detection.

Responsibilities

Job Title

Dornan Engineering Group is a leading international engineering contractor delivering high-value projects across Europe, UK & Ireland. Based in our Dublin Office, this is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Digital Construction Team as a BIM Technician, supporting the delivery of our projects which cover a wide variety of sectors.

Your day will include:

• Producing and updating detailed 3D BIM models and technical drawings for mechanical and electrical building services.
• Developing coordinated models and drawings in line with project specifications, design standards and construction requirements.
• Collaborating with engineers, designers and site teams to ensure accurate and coordinated project information.
• Identifying and resolving clashes between building services and other disciplines.
• Preparing layouts, sections, schematics and installation drawings for construction.
• Incorporating design changes and ensuring drawings and models are kept up to date throughout the project lifecycle.
• Supporting design reviews, coordination meetings and the resolution of technical queries.
• Ensuring BIM models and documentation meet project quality standards and agreed deadlines.

About You

• Relevant qualification in BIM, Engineering, Building Services, Construction or a related discipline.
• Experience in a BIM Technician or similar role within the construction or building services sector.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; experience with Navisworks and BIM coordination tools is an advantage.
• Good understanding of mechanical and electrical building services, technical drawings and construction documentation.
• Knowledge of BIM standards, modelling practices and clash detection processes.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, high-quality technical information.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage priorities and meet project deadlines.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
