Job summary

Local Power Ltd. in Ireland seeks a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Service & Maintenance Engineer to install, commission and service mobile BESS units across the island of Ireland, with regular travel including Northern Ireland.

The role is field-based and supported by a 24/7 office-based team, plus structured technical training and opportunities to develop client relationships. You will diagnose faults, perform preventive maintenance, deliver on-site training, and contribute to

Qualifications

• Level 7 or 8 NFQ is an advantage.
• Safe Pass certification (required).
• Strong knowledge of battery technologies (Lithium‑ion, LFP, etc.).
• Proficient in power electronics, inverters, and LV/MV electrical systems.
• Experience with Modbus, CANbus, and EMS/SCADA platforms.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission BESS units at customer and project sites across Ireland.
• Perform system checks covering battery modules, inverters, PCS, and EMS/SCADA.
• Ensure correct integration with grid, solar, or hybrid systems (e.g. generators, solar PV).
• Maintenance & Servicing: diagnose faults in battery systems, power electronics, and control systems.
• Replace or repair faulty components including battery modules, wiring, and cooling systems.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance and site inspections.
• Maintain accurate service logs and maintenance records in CRM.
• Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and software issues.
• Provide emergency on-site and remote technical support as required.
• Performance Monitoring: monitor system performance and optimise battery operation.
• Ensure safety compliance with RAMS and Safe Pass where applicable.
• Deliver training and handover materials to clients.
