Job summary

Midlands Park Hotel invites applications for the Charter Bar & Eatery Manager role. You will lead a busy bar/eatery with about 35 colleagues, driving exceptional guest experiences, team engagement and commercial performance in a vibrant Midlands setting.

You will shape service standards, mentor leaders, and collaborate with the General Manager and executive team to elevate guest journeys across the outlet and hotel.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience managing a high-volume bar, restaurant, hotel food and beverage outlet or similar hospitality operation.
  • Proven success in leading and developing teams.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, labour costs and stock controls.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative leadership style and the ability to build relationships across departments.
  • Desire to innovate and continually enhance the guest experience.
  • Experience delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.

  • Review performance, appearance and conduct standards across the department.

Reporting Structure
  • Reports directly to the Operations Manager/General Manager
  • Manages a team of approximately 35 employees
  • Works closely with the General Manager, Executive Chef, Departmental Leaders and Senior Management Team

Leadership & People Development
  • Lead, motivate and inspire the Charter Bar & Eatery team to consistently deliver exceptional service.

  • Conduct THRIVE reviews and regular performance discussions.
  • Deliver and facilitate departmental training programmes.
  • Lead daily team briefings and operational meetings.
  • Review performance, appearance and conduct standards across the department.
Guest Experience Excellence
  • Develop and implement strategies that exceed guest expectations.
  • Anticipate guest needs and resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor guest feedback and drive service recovery initiatives.
  • Ensure exceptional standards of service, cleanliness, presentation and ambience are maintained.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the overall guest journey.
Commercial & Financial Performance
  • Deliver departmental revenue, profitability and productivity targets.
  • Support the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes.
  • Monitor labour costs, stock management and purchasing activities.
  • Manage departmental expenses and overheads effectively.
  • Ensure all cash handling, cashiering and financial controls are adhered to.
  • Take ownership of stock management processes and monthly stocktakes.
  • Drive innovative initiatives to maximise revenue opportunities.
Operational Excellence
  • Ensure all Standard Operating Procedures are consistently followed.
  • Maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety compliance.
  • Ensure the smooth coordination of service between front and back of house teams.
  • Monitor operational readiness and service standards throughout the outlet.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and service issues are resolved promptly.
  • Support Duty Management responsibilities when required.
Collaboration & Strategic Contribution
  • Work closely with the General Manager, Operations Manager, Executive Chef and wider management team to achieve business objectives.
  • Build strong relationships across all hotel departments to ensure operational success.
  • Contribute to business planning, departmental strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify short, medium and long-term challenges and proactively recommend solutions.
  • Champion innovation and best practice within the department.
