Job summary

Version 1 is seeking a Backend Software Developer to join a growing technology team in Ireland. You will design, develop and support scalable, cloud-native backend services and RESTful APIs, with a strong focus on Azure technologies, databases and security.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will help deliver high-quality software that meets business needs, contribute to CI/CD pipelines and maintain documentation and coding standards.

Qualifications

• Experience building and deploying scalable web applications and backend services.
• Proven experience with Azure or other cloud platforms (AWS/GCP).
• Hands-on with Docker and Kubernetes for containerised apps.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services using Azure cloud technologies.
• Develop and support RESTful APIs for web and mobile applications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Design, develop and maintain SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval and performance.
• Build scalable, resilient and secure cloud-native applications using Azure services.
• Write clean, maintainable and efficient code, following established development standards and best practices.
• Develop and maintain automated unit tests to ensure application quality and reliability.
• Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across development and production environments.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including API specifications, design documentation and support materials.
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business objectives.

Overview

We are seeking a Backend Software Developer to join a growing technology team focused on delivering innovative digital solutions that enhance operational efficiency and user experiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and supporting scalable, cloud-based applications, with a strong focus on backend development, APIs and Azure technologies.

This role offers the opportunity to work on modern cloud-native solutions while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software that meets business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality backend services using Azure cloud technologies.
• Develop and support RESTful APIs and services for web and mobile applications.

• Design, develop and maintain SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval and performance.

Required Experience

• Professional software development experience, with a focus on web and cloud-based technologies.
• Proven experience building and deploying scalable web applications and backend services.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience working within Agile software development environments.

Technical Skills

• Strong experience developing RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Strong understanding of microservices and service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with Azure services such as:
  • Azure Functions
  • Azure App Services
  • Azure Service Bus
  • Azure DevOps
  • Azure SQL
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, including SQL Server, MySQL, Azure SQL and NoSQL technologies.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and cloud automation tools.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging and observability tools.
• Knowledge of security best practices for cloud-based applications.

Qualifications
