Job summary

Planet is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Operations Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure networking to join our Cloud & Infrastructure Services team. You will operate, secure, troubleshoot, and continuously improve cloud and hybrid network services that support business-critical platforms.

The role requires ownership of Azure connectivity and network security services, automation with Terraform, and collaboration with security and platform engineering to deliver reliable connectivity

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure networking and hybrid connectivity.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPNs, BGP and network security principles.
• Experience with Terraform for repeatable infrastructure deployments.
• Scripting/automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Bash or Python.
• Ability to document complex network issues clearly for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and improve highly available Azure and hybrid cloud network services.
• Design and support Azure hub-and-spoke and Virtual WAN architectures, VNets, peering, NAT, Private Link and service endpoints.
• Manage network security controls including NSGs, Azure Firewall, WAF, DDoS protection, and segmentation.
• Operate hybrid connectivity using ExpressRoute, VPNs, and on-prem integration with routing and security platforms.
• Monitor and troubleshoot DNS, routing, load balancing, TLS, and network paths across environments.
• Lead or support incident response, root cause analysis, problem management, and service restoration.
• Maintain network documentation, runbooks, and contribute to DR and capacity planning.
