Job summary

VIOTAS (Electricity Exchange) in Limerick, Ireland, is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure AWS-based systems. You will join a team to ensure high availability and performance using IaC tooling and container orchestration.

The role emphasizes automation, proactive monitoring, incident analysis, and collaboration with development teams to deliver reliable features.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of AWS Cloud/DevOps/Software engineering experience.
• Demonstrable skills in working with complex ecosystems.
• Understanding of security concepts: encryption, secure application development, defensive programming, software vulnerabilities and exploits, general issues in web security.
• AWS Administration experience, optimum resource management/security.
• Experience delivering scalable Event Driven systems.
• Comfortable scripting and debugging.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team to design and implement highly available, secure, scalable and cost-effective systems and processes, ensuring the reliability and performance of the company's AWS infrastructure.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code (IaC) automation (e.g., Terraform) to create IaC patterns and modules that accelerate development for end users programmatically.
• Monitor systems and applications, proactively identifying and resolving any performance bottlenecks or availability issues.
• Manage Kubernetes clusters on AWS EKS, including deployment, scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting containerised workloads to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
• Develop and maintain monitoring tools, alerts, and dashboards to provide visibility into system health and performance.
• Conduct post-incident analyses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures to avoid future incidents.
• Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
• Create and maintain documentation for system architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Collaborate with development teams to implement and deploy new features and enhancements, ensuring they meet reliability and performance standards.
• Stay up to date with industry best practices, new technologies, and emerging trends in site reliability engineering.
