Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Project Director – Planning & Front-End Development to lead the planning and front-end development of major aviation infrastructure projects from our Dublin office. The role focuses on strategic leadership, feasibility, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory approvals to position projects for successful delivery.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience leading planning and front-end development of major infrastructure or aviation projects.
• Proven experience managing planning applications and consent processes for complex infra developments.
• Strong knowledge of Irish planning legislation, EIA/AA, and statutory consenting processes.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams across planning, engineering, environmental and commercial.
• Experience engaging with planning authorities, airport stakeholders, statutory bodies and government agencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and front-end development strategy for major capital projects (MRO facilities, hangar demolition, cargo developments, CBP, HV substation).
• Direct feasibility studies, option assessments, business case development, and project definition activities.
• Manage planning applications from concept through submission and compliance.
• Coordinate EIA/AA, transport studies, utilities strategies and technical documentation.
• Establish governance, reporting frameworks and project controls for the planning phase.
• Oversee multidisciplinary teams delivering planning, design development, environmental and technical workstreams.
