Job summary

AIR Sligo, part of the AIR Group, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and implementation of automated equipment for global manufacturing customers. You will work in a technical team to translate customer requirements into robust mechatronic solutions and oversee the project lifecycle from concept through commissioning.

Responsibilities include 3D design using SolidWorks, tooling drawings, pneumatic schematics, risk assessments and FMEAs, plus coordinating with

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum 4 years experience in automation projects.
• Experience with design sign-off, installation and commissioning.
• Proficient in 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Able to travel with a valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative concepts from customer requirements.
• 3D design of mechatronic equipment including mechanisms and transfer systems.
• Hands-on build and debug to meet performance specs.
• Manage large projects and cross-functional teams through lifecycle.
• Guide technicians to realise designs.
• Develop tooling drawings and pneumatic schematics.
• Liaise with suppliers and customers on specifications and deliverables.
• Prepare safety risk assessments and FMEAs.
• Develop machine documentation to meet EU standards.
• Communicate effectively with the technical team daily.
