Job summary

Sanofi in Waterford, Ireland is seeking an Automation Engineer to support and advance automated manufacturing across PFS, LYO, Filling and Packaging. You will handle day-to-day automation support, troubleshoot PLC/SCADA issues, and maintain PI Historian and related systems in a GMP environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Control/Automation engineering or related field.
• Hands-on GMP‑regulated pharma automation experience.
• Experience with Siemens S7 / TIA Portal programming and commissioning.
• Proficiency with SCADA: Wonderware, iFix, or Zenon.
• Experience with OSIsoft PI Historian and/or Ignition platforms.
• Knowledge of Windows Server administration and OT VM environments.
• Understanding of OT/IT networks and protocols.
• Familiarity with CSV and GAMP 5 guidelines.
• GxP and GMP regulatory awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day automation support across PFS, LYO, Filling, and Packaging.
• Troubleshoot automation issues to minimise downtime.
• Maintain PI Historian and Ignition data integrity.
• Manage OT Windows Server and VM infrastructure.
• Support automation capital projects from concept to commissioning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure QA/GxP compliance.
• Assist with MES integration and data flow improvements.
