As a Senior Automation / Controls Engineer, you will take a leading role in delivering the control and software systems behind these machines. This is a hands-on senior position suited to an engineer who enjoys owning projects end to end in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Support and lead the design and development of software for PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, servo and motion control, vision systems, and high-speed pick-and-place robotic solutions. Define and review system requirements, functional specifications, and design documents. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless integration of software with mechanical and electrical systems. Champion software validation and compliance with relevant industry regulations (e.g., GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11). Provide hands-on development, debugging, and troubleshooting support on projects. Drive continuous improvement in software development practices and tools. Mentor junior software engineersand support competency development across the team. Own the architecture and design of control systems on new machine builds, from concept through to handover. Plan and lead installation, commissioning, FAT, and SAT activities at Tekpak and at customer sites.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline. 3+ years of experience in industrial automation software development. Proven expertise in programming PLC platforms in particular Schneider PacDrive and Rockwell (Studio 5000 / RSLogix) using ladder logic, sequential function charts (SFC), and structured text (ST). Experience with HMI systems (Weintek, FactoryTalk View). Experience withservo control, robotics(Delta, SCARA, Cobots), high-speed pick-and-place. Strong understanding of pharmaceutical and food industry standards, including GMP, GAMP, and validation protocols. Practical knowledge of control system design, fieldbus protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet), and industrial networking. Proven ability to design and implement control system architectures from the ground up. Excellent communicationskills, with the ability to aid in the creation of project documentation including functional design specifications (FDS), software design specifications (SDS), hardware design specifications (HDS), I/O lists, and alarm lists. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies, platforms, and tools. Experience working to validation and qualification activities such as DQ, FAT, and SAT within a GAMP-regulated environment.
Experience with high-level languages (e.g., Python, C#, or C++) for middleware or testing applications. Familiarity with MES/ERP integration, data logging, and Industry 4.0 concepts. Knowledge of cybersecurity in industrial control systems. Experience with Fanuc, Kuka, or ABB robotics. Experience with machine vision systems (e.g., Cognex and Keyence).
