Job summary

Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services Group is working with a global engineering and automation technology company based in Cork to recruit an Automation Engineer. You will lead design, commissioning and validation of machine vision solutions at customer sites or machine builder facilities.

Reporting to the Vision Delivery Manager, you will support pre‑sales activities, liaise with Sales, and ensure quotes reflect technical requirements.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or diploma in Electronic, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in multi-discipline projects.
• Regulatory knowledge including FDA and GAMP.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Ability to work with Engineering, Operations, QA, Product Development and Sales.
• Experience in design and development of machine vision solutions.
• Experience installing and troubleshooting machine vision solutions.
• Experience creating regulatory documents such as Functional Design Specifications and system validation documents.
• SQL knowledge to liaise with R&D.
• Understanding of pharmaceutical/manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Take a leading role in design, development, installation, commissioning & validation of the vision, electrical, software and automation elements at customer sites or machine builder facilities.
• Act as Vision SME and assist sales with site surveys and quote preparation.
• Annotate customer URS and feed back on technical solutions.
• Liaise with Sales to ensure information is in place to cost and quote accurately.
• Interact with customers at site meetings and survey packaging lines for solutions.
• Manage third party suppliers for hardware, software and services.
• Take SME role in development of Vision solutions for customers.
• Promote continuous improvement from deployment feedback to engineering.
• Identify scope creep and communicate changes; prepare quotes.
• Travel in Ireland and occasional international travel.

We are working with global engineering and automation technology company based in Cork, working primarily with leading pharma, biotech, medical device and other highly regulated manufacturing companies. We are looking for an Automation Engineer to join the team. Reporting to the Vision Delivery Manager, the Automation Engineer will lead the design, commission & validation of machine vision related solutions. You will support sales productivity by providing technical input into Machine Vision sales quotations to ensure projects are costed accurately and timely while meeting customer requirements. • Responsibilities:Take a leading role in the design, development, installation, commissioning & validation of the vision, electrical, software and automation-based elements of the solution at the customer’s site or machine builder facility
• Acting as Vision SME, assist the sales team in the pre-sales activities to include site surveys and quote preparation
• Have a full understanding of the requirements, customer documentation including annotating and feeding back on customer URS, and technical solution
• Liaise with the Sales team to ensure that all information to accurately assess the requirements to prepare and cost a complete quotation are in place
• The role requires contact with Customers, including attendance to site meetings and survey packaging lines to assist in providing a technical solution
• Manage third party suppliers for procurement of hardware, software and services
• Take a SME role in the development of our Vision solutions for customers
• You will promote continuous improvement through the provision of feedback to the engineering team in relation to deployment experience of integrated vision and software solutions
• Identify scope creep or when changes/new requirements are being introduced and communicate same to management and prepare customer quotes to support additional customer requirements
• Required to travel in Ireland and occasional travel abroad
• Other duties as required
• Requirements:Relevant third level qualification such as a diploma/degree in an Engineering discipline. Electronic, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
• Experience in working with multiple discipline projects
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and structured standards and practices for regulated Industry including FDA and GAMP
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Ability to work with multiple disciplines including: in-house Engineering, Operations, Quality and Product Development and Sales departments as well as partners, contractors, suppliers and customers
• Experience in design and development of machine vision solutions preferable
• Experience in installing and troubleshooting machine vision solutions desirable
• Experience creating regulatory documents such as Functional Design Specifications and system validation documents.
• SQL knowledge as both our vision products use SQL so to understand some limitations/ functions to be able to liaise with R&D
• An understanding of manufacturing processes, with experience in the pharmaceutical and/or medical devices industries an advantage
• Experience working with PLCs and Automation systems for manufacturing is advantageous, particularly Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC.
