Mediahuis IRL is seeking an Audience Editor to join the regional audience team and coordinate distribution of stories across the home page, newsletters, county pages and social platforms.

You will use data to inform decisions, optimise reader engagement and collaborate with journalists and video teams in a fast-paced news environment. Experience in digital publishing and strong news judgement are essential.

Qualifications

Job Title: Audience Editor

Reporting to: Team Lead, Regional Audience Team

Contract: Full Time, Fixed Term (Maternity Cover)

Role Purpose

The Audience Editor is part of the regional editorial team, responsible for making sure our stories are delivered to the right audience, at the right time, on the right platform.

You will have multiple premium and free-to-access stories a day to distribute via the regional block on the home page, newsletters, county pages and social media to ensure they reach the largest audience possible. You will have excellent news judgement, a deep understanding of how online readers consume news and be adept at using data to inform your decisions.

You will also work collaboratively with the audience team, group editors, journalists and video teams.

Experience & Qualifications (Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge)

  • At least one year’s editorial experience working in a digital media environment
  • Third level media/journalist qualification desirable
  • Experience of digital publishing and distribution

Skills - Technical & Non Technical

  • Content Management System–editing, page layout
  • Data literate comfortable - analytics, dashboards and charts
  • Excellent working knowledge of social media and other digital tools
  • Excellent knowledge of libel law
  • Self-starting, shows initiative, operate without supervision, motivated
  • Flexibility/willingness to adapt
  • Copy editing
  • Comfortable working on digital deadlines in a 24/7 news cycle where speed and accuracy are crucial
  • Ability to multi-task and work across different platforms and channels
  • Excellent news judgement
