Bauer Media Audio Ireland is seeking an experienced Weekend News Editor to lead the weekend newsroom across its national and local radio brands.
You will oversee Saturday and Sunday output, plan coverage, manage reporters, and ensure high editorial standards while supporting weekday editors. This is a key leadership role offering responsibility, strategic input and hybrid working options.
Bauer Media Audio Ireland is the country’s largest commercial radio group, operating eight stations including national brands Today FM and Newstalk, alongside youth-focused SPIN stations in Dublin and the Southwest. The portfolio also includes iRadio across the Northeast and Northwest, 98FM in Dublin, Beat in the Southeast, and Red FM in Cork.
Beyond radio, Bauer Media Audio Ireland delivers a diverse and innovative audio offering. This includes Off the Ball, Ireland’s leading digital sports brand; GoLoud, a premium platform for radio, podcasts, and music; audioXi, the country’s largest digital audio advertising exchange; and Media Central, Ireland’s leading media sales house.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Weekend News Editor to lead the weekend newsroom operation delivering news content across Bauer Media Audio Ireland’s national, regional, and local radio brands and the network news service, which supplies news and sport content to every commercial radio brand in Ireland.
The Weekend News Editor is a full time, five days a week, role and will carry overall editorial responsibility for all newsroom output on Saturday and Sunday and will assist in preparing newsroom content for the week ahead on weekdays.
Reporting to the Group Director of News, this role is central to managing people, planning coverage, delivering strong journalism at weekends, ensuring consistently high standards on air and across all digital platforms, and ensuring continuity between weekday and weekend operations.
The successful candidate will also be required to act in an upward capacity by providing editorial and operational cover for other editors and news desk based staff during periods of absence.
This is an opportunity to lead weekend news coverage across Ireland's largest commercial radio group, shaping output for some of the country's most recognised audio brands, including Newstalk, Today FM and our Network News service.
You'll play a key role in setting the editorial agenda, leading a talented newsroom team and delivering coverage of the stories that matter most to audiences across Ireland.
The role offers significant editorial responsibility, the opportunity to contribute to strategic newsroom projects, and valuable leadership experience within one of Ireland's most influential broadcast news operations.
