Job summary

Larian Studios in Dublin is seeking an Associate Lead Cinematic Animator to help craft high-calibre cinematic sequences for our games. You will oversee a team of cinematic animators, collaborate with the Animation Director, and ensure top visual storytelling across MoCap and keyframe workflows.

The role requires on-site presence in Dublin, with strong experience in Maya, game engines and cinematic systems to push the boundaries of our storytelling and player immersion.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years working in cinematic animation.
  • 2+ years as a team lead or manager.
  • Experience in MoCap and Keyframe Animation.
  • Experience working in game engines with cinematic systems.
  • Expert in Maya and Maya toolset.
  • Solid experience with technical feature development.
  • Strong storytelling, cinematography, staging and acting.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Leads Cinematic Animators to develop and champion the studio's style.
  • Mentor, lead and grow a team of cinematic animators in Dublin.
  • Ensure quality and visual goals of cinematic animations with actionable feedback.
  • Participate in technical research to push cinematic features and processes.
  • Collaborate with production to deliver on plans and schedules.
  • Coordinate with adjacent teams to improve pipelines.

With multiple awards to our name, Larian Studios has proven that we’re dedicated to delivering high-quality role-playing games As we move on to new projects, the studio that brought you Baldur’s Gate 3 & Divinity: Original Sin 2 is looking for an Associate Lead Cinematic Animator to join the team and help us in crafting the high calibre games our fans have come to expect.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Leads Cinematic Animators to develop, refine and champion the studio's Cinematics Animation style in alignment with our Animation Director and Head of Animation
  • Mentor, lead, and grow a team of high performing cinematic animators in Dublin
  • Ensure the quality and visual goals of cinematic animations are met through clear actionable feedback and creative problem solving
  • Take part in technical research and help push the boundaries of our cinematic features and processes
  • Work alongside production and leadership to deliver on production plans and schedules
  • Communicate and collaborate with adjacent teams to improve and refine studio pipelines
Requirements
  • 5+ years working in cinematic animation
  • 2+ years experience as a team lead or manager
  • This is a full-time, on-site role, requiring your presence in the office to support collaboration and creativity
  • Experience in both MoCap and Keyframe Animation
  • Experience working in game engines, with a solid understanding of cinematic systemsExpert in Maya
  • Solid experience with technical feature development
  • Solid experience in visual storytelling, cinematography, staging and acting
  • Experience with Autodesk Flow
