Job summary

SYSTRA UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Development Planner at Associate level to deliver transport planning services across Ireland, with offices in Dublin or Cork. You will manage development planning projects, liaise with private and public sector clients, and contribute to tender proposals.

The role requires an honours degree in Civil Engineering or Geography, experience with Transport Statements and Travel Plans, and familiarity with traffic modelling tools (LinSig, ARCADY, VISSIM).

Qualifications

  • Honours degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, or equivalent.
  • Experience of preparing Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, ES Transport Chapters, Construction Management Plans and Delivery and Servicing Plans.
  • Ideally Chartered or working towards it (e.g. TPP, EI).
  • Experience of traffic modelling tools such as LinSig, PICADY, ARCADY and TRANSY.

Responsibilities

  • Management of a range of development planning projects with varying complexities.
  • Dealing directly with private and public sector clients on a day‑to‑day basis.
  • Preparing transport documentation for planning applications.
  • Financial management of projects, including budgeting and invoicing.
  • Line management of junior staff, including resourcing and performance reviews.
  • Help prepare and manage the delivery of tender proposals.

Context

We are looking to strengthen our team with an experienced Development Planner at Associate level. This role involves managing and delivering transport planning services for a wide range of developments across Ireland, including key high‑profile infrastructure projects. Based in either our Dublin or Cork office, the successful candidate will also contribute to business growth by managing client relationships and participating in marketing and proposal activities.

Missions / Main Duties
  • Management of a range of development planning projects with varying complexities

  • Financial management of projects, including monthly reviews, budgeting and invoicing
  • Line management of junior members of staff, including resourcing and undertaking performance reviews
  • Help prepare and manage the delivery of tender proposals
Profile / Skills
  • Honours degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, or equivalent
  • Experience of preparing Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, ES Transport Chapters, Construction Management Plans and Delivery and Servicing Plans
  • Ideally Chartership of a professional institution (e.g. TPP, EI) or working towards it
  • Experience of traffic modelling is preferred (e.g. LinSig, PICADY, ARCADY and TRANSY)
  • Experience of micro‑simulation modelling (e.g. VISSIM, PARAMICS) would be advantageous
  • A strong communicator, both written and verbally, with excellent team ethics
