Job summary

Walls Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Surveyor to deliver commercial management across construction projects. You will prepare measurement records, valuations and interim payment applications while coordinating with the site team, commercial department and clients to keep work on programme and within budget.

You will administer subcontract and supplier contracts, review progress, and contribute to risk assessments, cost forecasts and procurement activities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Assistant Project Surveyor or similar role in construction.
• Experience preparing valuations, measurement take-offs and payment applications.
• Understanding of standard forms of contract and change control procedures.
• Experience with Excel, Word and Outlook; estimating software and DMS desirable.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication; liaise with stakeholders.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Qualification in construction, surveying or commercial management advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain measurement records, valuation schedules and interim payment applications.
• Assess and value variations, claims and compensation events with documentation and recommendations.
• Administer subcontract and supplier contracts, issue instructions and monitor payments.
• Review site works and progress, verify quantities and compliance with specifications.
• Prepare cost monitoring reports, forecast changes to the project budget and highlight risks and opportunities.
• Liaise with project managers, site teams, design consultants and clients to resolve commercial queries.
• Collate and maintain project commercial records in the DMS, ensuring auditability.
• Assist with procurement activities, evaluating quotations and supporting negotiations.
• Support risk management through contingency proposals and cost-saving measures.
• Participate in project meetings and provide timely updates to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality and data security.
