Job summary

Walls Construction is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Ireland to oversee commercial and contractual performance on building projects from inception through close-out.

You will manage subcontractor procurement, cost reporting, and pre-tender activities while supporting post-tender negotiations and contract preparation. Five years’ experience with a building contractor, strong IT skills, and excellent communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying.
  • Minimum of five years experience with a building contractor.
  • Excellent IT systems knowledge.
  • Ability to work in a team, to be organised self starter and possess excellent communication skills, written and oral.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-Contract and Tender Stage: review tender docs, assist with commercial objectives, budgets and targets, support post-tender negotiations.
  • Contract Delivery Stage: manage subcontractor procurement, attend pre-award meetings, maintain contract docs and records, manage interim valuations and variation accounts, carry out measurement and cost control, monitor accounts and payments, handle contractual correspondence.
  • Post-Contract Stage: finalise subcontractor accounts and financial close-out, ensure documentation and filing are maintained per procedures.

Responsibilities The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for overseeing the commercial and contractual performance of building projects throughout their lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:

Pre-Contract and Tender Stage
  • Reviewing and familiarising yourself with tender documentation.
  • Supporting the preparation of commercial objectives, budgets, and targets for projects.
  • Assisting with post-tender negotiations and contract preparation activities.
Contract Delivery Stage
  • Managing the procurement and appointment of subcontractors.
  • Attending and contributing to pre-award meetings.
  • Preparing and maintaining contract documentation, schedules, and records.
  • Managing interim applications, valuations, and variation accounts.
  • Carrying out measurement and cost control activities.
  • Monitoring project accounts, processing payments, and producing commercial reports.
  • Handling contractual correspondence and supporting the agreement of final accounts.
Post-Contract Stage
  • Finalising subcontractor accounts and project financial close-out.
  • Ensuring all project documentation, records, and filing systems are completed and maintained in accordance with company procedures.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should have appropriate professional qualifications in Quantity Surveying.
