Job summary

Dan O'Connor Feeds in Limerick is seeking an Assistant Production Manager to coordinate the Animal Feed Mill operations, ensuring products are manufactured to the highest standards and dispatched on time. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will lead production and maintenance teams, drive cost efficiency, implement improvements, and foster a safe, compliant working environment.

This role requires hands-on leadership and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Formal qualification in Production Management/Engineering preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years in a management role in a manufacturing environment desirable.
• Animal feeds manufacturing experience highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate production and maintenance teams to meet product quality and safety standards.
• Plan staffing, optimize teams, and control costs to meet schedules.
• Develop understanding of operations and equipment interfaces.
• Implement process improvements with key stakeholders.

Job Title:

Assistant Production Manager

Job Purpose:

To manage and coordinate the activities of the Animal Feed Mill so as to optimise the performance of the facility and ensure products are manufactured and dispatched to the highest standards and service levels.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following:

• Ensure the manufacture of products to the highest standards in the safest, most cost effective and efficient manner.
• Fully utilise and harness the Production and Maintenance Teams' capability through effective leadership, processes that are consistently applied and accurately measured against the business objectives.
• Staffing planning and ensuring team optimisation whilst controlling costs. Production planning to ensure production schedules meet customer requirements and service levels.
• Develop a hands-on understanding of all aspects of the operation, including the equipment/software interface
• Develop reporting structures and provide coaching, training, development and performance management for key reports. Continually strive to improve employee engagement and effective communications.
• Ensure department mechanical performance is maintained and improved together with the outsourced maintenance function.
• Identify and implement process improvements in conjunction with key stakeholders
• Be fully accountable for health and safety and be responsible for the development and continuous evolution of the health and safety culture.
• Ensure consistent adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Maintain and drive quality standards in process, people and product.
• Project manage the implementation of capital expenditure programmes
• Compile and adhere to annual budgets for the mill
• Capacity plan for existing and future products
• Lead cost reduction initiatives within the plant to improve the cost competitiveness of the manufacturing facility. Ensure there is a comprehensive programme of continuous improvement.
• Report and communicate effectively with the senior management team on an ongoing basis.
• Develop and maintain relationships pertinent to the development of the role and growth of the business.

Qualifications required for this role:

• Formal qualification in Production Management/Engineering Discipline preferred
• Minimum of 3-5 years in a management role in a manufacturing environment desirable
• Animal feeds manufacturing experience highly desirable
