Job summary

Castlemartyr Resort seeks an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our Grounds team in East Cork. The role supports daily maintenance of greens, fairways, tees, and roughs under the Course Superintendent, ensuring high standards and guest satisfaction.

You should have experience in golf course maintenance or landscaping, and a driving licence. A Horticultural Studies qualification is advantageous; the role requires strong communication and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Job description

We are inviting applications for an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, who has knowledge and experience in the field, with an eye for detail and takes pride in delivering 5* service to join and enhance our established team in Castlemartyr Resort.

As part of the Grounds team, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills under the guidance of the Grounds & Golf management team. This is a great opportunity to grow & develop a career.

Knowledge and experience in the following areas is essential:

• Previous experience in Green Keeping / Golf Course Maintenance / Landscaping
• Qualification in Horticultural Studies is advantageous
• Will possess excellent communication skills
• Must have a full drivers licence
• Will have the ability to learn quickly and work in a fast paced environment

• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Being flexible to cater for guests’ requirements, even at short notice and always professionally.

Duties include but are not exclusive to:

• In conjunction with the Course Superintendent responsible for the daily maintenance of the greens, fairways, roughs, tee boxes, and all other aspects of the Golf Course.
• Overseeing the maintenance and repair of construction and maintenance equipment.
• Overseeing the maintenance of the Clubhouse surrounds and course landscaping.
• Ensuring that the aesthetics of the course is maintained e.g. no litter, repairs carried out immediately etc.
• Maintaining open spaces, unused acreage and areas outside the perimeter fence in good condition.
• In conjunction with the Course Superintendent development and maintaining a sod farm and nursery.
• Responsible for adhering to all company procedures e.g. purchasing, controls, etc.
• Develop and build good relations with golf club team, course members, residents and guests who use the facility.
• Responsible for preparation of Golf Course for various tournaments, events.
• Upkeep and development of trees and wildlife conservation areas on the Estate.
• Responsible for liaising daily with Course Superintendent ensuring that communication is open and regular.
• Ensure that you keep up to date with changing trends and technological advances in golf course management.
