Opportunity Overview

Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced legal professional to join its global Legal Department as an Assistant General Counsel. This full-time role can be based in either KBRA's Dublin (Ireland) or London (England) office, operating on a hybrid work model. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the Legal Department, focusing primarily on international privacy, data protection, and contract-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

As Assistant General Counsel, your responsibilities will focus heavily on privacy and data protection compliance, alongside contract management. Key duties include:

  • Advising on international data privacy and cybersecurity regulations, including EU GDPR, UK GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, and CCPA/CPRA.
  • Assisting in the enhancement, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity policies across KBRA.
  • Conducting and advising on privacy impact assessments (PIAs), legitimate interest assessments (LIAs), and cross-border data transfer mechanisms (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating vendor agreements, service provider contracts, client engagement letters, subscription agreements, and Data Processing Agreements (DPAs).
  • Monitoring global regulatory developments in privacy, data protection, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) across Ireland, the UK, the EU, and other relevant jurisdictions.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Compliance, Technology, Marketing, and Business Development.
Eligibility & Requirements

Candidates applying for this position must meet the following criteria:

  • Education & Bar Admission: A qualifying law degree (or equivalent) and admission to practice as a solicitor in Ireland or England & Wales (with or eligible for a current practicing certificate). Highly experienced privacy professionals with significant legal advisory experience may also be considered.
  • Experience: 4 to 8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), with specific, hands-on exposure to privacy and data protection law.
  • Skills: Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, particularly regarding privacy-sensitive clauses. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in regulated environments (financial services, tech, data/analytics) is highly advantageous. IAPP certifications (such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, or CIPM) are considered a strong plus.
