Job summary

The Panel is a leading Irish commercial law firm seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to support the Financial Controller and keep day-to-day finances running smoothly across Ireland and the UK.

This broad, hands-on role includes month-end, financial control procedures, and payroll processing for 150+ employees. You will work in a supportive team committed to investing in its people and professional growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a similar finance or accounts assistant role in Professional Services.
• Strong grounding in financial controls and reconciliations.
• Payroll processing experience.
• Part/ fully qualified ACCA (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Support the Financial Controller across month-end, management accounts, financial reporting and control procedures.
• Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments, depreciation and intercompany reconciliations.
• Manage the ledgers for the firm's service and UK entities, including monthly recharges.
• Carry out balance sheet and bank reconciliations and review general ledger activity.
• Run end-to-end payroll for 150+ employees across Ireland and the UK.
• Maintain strong client account controls in line with Law Society regulations.
• Monitor WIP, outlays, client balances and other key control accounts.
• Support and guide colleagues across day-to-day finance operations.

Their close-knit finance team of seven is now looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to support the Financial Controller and keep the firm's day-to-day finances running smoothly.

This is a broad, hands-on role with real scope to grow. You'll be trusted with month-end, the firm's control environment, and payroll for a business across Ireland and the UK, in a supportive team that genuinely invests in its people.

• Maintain strong client account controls in line with Law Society regulations
• Monitor WIP, outlays, client balances and other key control accounts
• Support and guide colleagues across day-to-day finance operations

What you'll bring

• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with a sharp eye for detail
• Part/ fully qualified ACCA (or equivalent)
• Experience in legal or professional services, and with legal practice management systems, is a real plus
