Alternative Heat in Dundalk, Co Louth, is seeking an Assembly Operative to support our fabrication team with assembling metal framework components and large piping systems, performing cutting, wrapping and packaging duties, and assisting with quality touch-ups.

This hands-on role offers Monday-Thursday 7am-5pm and Friday 7am-4pm, with a competitive salary based on experience and opportunities to work with a skilled team across our offsite fabrication projects.

Team Overview: The Fabrication & Assembly department is responsible for the off-site manufacturing of bespoke mechanical and electrical systems, including prefabricated plant rooms, skids, and modular assemblies. Operating from our dedicated assembly facility, the team ensures high-quality workmanship, precision, and compliance with project specifications. By delivering preassembled solutions, the department helps reduce installation time, improve safety on-site, and maintain consistent quality — all while supporting efficient project delivery and innovation in modular construction.

What You'll be Doing

The role involves assembling metal framework components and large piping systems, carrying out general operational duties such as cutting, wrapping and packaging, and completing quality de-snagging and paint touch-ups where required. The position also provides support to mechanical pipe fitters and leads, assists with material coordination and preparation, and undertakes general shopfloor support activities as needed.
