Job summary

Setanta Trucks in Dublin is offering a SOLAS-approved Motor Mechanic Apprenticeship. You will learn by doing in a modern workshop, earn while you learn, and develop skills on light commercial vehicles under the guidance of experienced technicians.

The programme provides hands-on training, access to industry-leading manufacturer training and a nationally recognised qualification on completion, with opportunities for progression within Setanta Group.

Responsibilities

• Learn to service, maintain and repair light commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.

• Assist with engine, transmission, brake and suspension repairs.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.
• Follow manufacturer standards and safety procedures.
• Develop skills toward becoming a qualified Motor Mechanic.

What You'll Do

Working alongside experienced technicians in our modern workshops, you will learn to:

• Service, maintain and repair light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and vans
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults
• Use advanced diagnostic equipment and workshop technology
• Carry out routine servicing and inspections
• Assist with engine, transmission, brake and suspension repairs
• Maintain accurate service and repair records
• Follow manufacturer standards and workshop safety procedures
• Develop the skills required to become a fully qualified Motor Mechanic

The ideal candidate will:

• Have a strong interest in vehicle mechanics and the motor industry
• Be enthusiastic, reliable and willing to learn
• Have good problem-solving and communication skills
• Be capable of working as part of a team
• Have a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Meet the entry requirements for the SOLAS Motor Mechanic Apprenticeship Programme
• Hold a full driver's licence (desirable but not essential)
