Job summary

Abcon Industrial Products Ltd. in Ireland is offering an Apprentice Maintenance Fitter role within our progressive engineering team. The apprenticeship is SOLAS-backed and aimed at developing skills in preventative maintenance, installation, and repair of production equipment.

Successful applicants will begin a 7-phase apprenticeship, complete a Junior Certificate, and can progress to Leaving Certificate. No prior experience required as full training is provided.

Qualifications

• SOLAS apprenticeship program begins with foundational training.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular preventative maintenance checks.
• Install, service and maintain production equipment.
• Ensure mechanical equipment is in good working order and safe for use.
• Liaise with Maintenance Manager on issues and safety concerns.
• Carry out breakdown repairs on machines.
• Schedule downtime for maintenance checks/repairs.
• Collect materials and parts from local suppliers.
• Ad hoc requests from Line Manager.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Maintenance Fitter to join our progressive team. With the view to the standardization of Work and the resources required, the Engineering Manager will direct the activities of the Process Engineer and Skills & Development Manager in order to provide consistent reliable data for use by the QS in the costing of Tenders and Projects.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Carry out regular preventative maintenance checks
• Installation, service and maintenance of production equipment
• Ensure that all mechanical equipment in the factory is in good working order and safe for use
• Liaise with the Maintenance Manager on any issues that arise or any Health & Safety concerns
• Carry out breakdown repairs on machines
• Schedule down time with the Maintenance Manager and Production Personnel for maintenance checks/repairs
• Collection of materials and parts from various local suppliers
• Ad hoc requests as requested by your Line Manager

Skills & Experience Required

• Successful applicants will be registered with SOLAS and begin a 7-phase apprenticeship
• Junior Certificate must be completed
• Leaving Certificate is a bonus
