Job summary

Kids Inc. is seeking an Afterschool Childcare Assistant to support children in Dun Laoghaire & Surrounds during the 2026/2027 term-time. The role involves collecting children, helping with homework, and leading engaging activities in a warm, safe setting after the school day.

You will work part-time during term-time with a guaranteed minimum of 10 hours per week and typically 20–25 hours. A full driving licence and Garda Vetting are required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Positive, reliable and enthusiastic attitude.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Genuine interest in children's development.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Full, clean driving licence (essential).
• Comfortable driving an automatic vehicle.
• Willingness to complete Garda Vetting and reference checks.

Responsibilities

• Help children settle after school and transition to the afternoon programme.
• Support children with homework in a calm and structured environment.
• Lead and participate in activities including sports, arts and crafts, imaginative play and outdoor play.
• Encourage children's social, emotional, physical and creative development.
• Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
• Assist with the day-to-day running of the service.
• Safely collecting children from a nearby school using a Kids Inc. vehicle.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all children.
