Job summary

Emerald Care is opening a new Aftercare Service in Naas, Co. Kildare.

We are recruiting Residential / Social Care Workers and Support Workers to support young adults aged 18-23 as they transition from care to independent living. You will provide practical, emotional and social support to help young adults build confidence, develop life skills and achieve personal goals within a new service from the ground up.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Social Care or related field is required.
  • CORU registration is acceptable.
  • Knowledge of Children First and the National Aftercare Policy is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical, emotional and social support to young adults aged 18-23.
  • Promote independence through life-skills development (budgeting, cooking, tenancy skills).
  • Support access to education, training, employment and community activities.
  • Contribute to Aftercare Plans and provide updates to management and professionals.
  • Maintain records and communicate within the team.
  • Uphold safeguarding and professional boundaries; participate in supervision and training.

Job description

Emerald Care is opening a new Aftercare Service in Naas, Co. Kildare in the upcoming months. We are now recruiting Residential / Social Care Workers and Support Workers to support young adults aged 18-23 as they transition from care to independent living. As part of our Aftercare Team, you will provide practical, emotional and social support that helps young adults build confidence, develop life skills and achieve their personal goals. This is a unique opportunity to help shape a new service from the ground up.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide practical, emotional and social support to young adults.
  • Promote independence through life‑skills development (budgeting, cooking, organisation, tenancy skills).
  • Support access to education, training, employment and community activities.
  • Contribute to Aftercare Plans and provide updates to management and relevant professionals.
  • Maintain clear records and communicate effectively within the team.
  • Uphold safeguarding, safety procedures and professional boundaries.
  • Participate in supervision, reflective practice and ongoing training.

Essential Requirements
  • Applicants must have either: A recognised QQI Level 7 qualification (or higher) in Social Care or a related field such as Psychology, Social Work, Youth & Community Work, Early Years Care, Counselling/Psychotherapy, Nursing, Education, Disability Studies or similar.
  • OR A recognised qualification from the Support Worker pathway, including: QQI/HETAC Diplomas in Childcare, Social Care, Applied Social Studies, Disability Studies, Healthcare Support (QQI Level 5 Major Award) or Pre-Nursing Studies.
  • OR CORU registration.
  • And the requisite knowledge, ability, suitability and professional standards for the role.
Candidates Should Also Demonstrate
  • Knowledge of Childrens First, the National Aftercare Policy and relevant legislation.
  • Strong professional values and trauma‑informed practice.
  • The ability to work flexibly as part of a residential care rota.
