Job summary

Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services Group is seeking an experienced accounts assistant for a 12-month maternity cover role with a well-established firm in County Roscommon. You will handle day-to-day accounting and payroll, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.

The ideal candidate will have payroll experience, strong Excel/Outlook/Word skills and a solid grasp of IFRS accounting principles. Excellent organisational and communication abilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar accounts role.
• Good knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Experience with payroll is essential.
• Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
• Experience with SAGE Payroll and Navision would be an advantage.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workload.
• Highly organised, proactive and self-motivated.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and processing weekly payroll for ROI and NI.
• Preparing monthly accounts through to trial balance.
• Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Bank reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations.
• Preparing and posting monthly journals.
• Assisting with variance analysis and financial reporting.
• Supporting the year-end audit process.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
• Providing general support to the Financial Controller and assisting with ad hoc duties as required.
