Job Description
Company Overview:Established in 1946, Gerard Kelly & Co. Limited is an iconic, family-owned builders' merchant and DIY retailer located in the heart of Dublin 3. Operating from a high-volume, purpose-built facility, we provide extensive logistical and material support to commercial contractors and retail customers across the Greater Dublin Area. We are currently seeking a structured and analytical Accounting Technician to join our finance department.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Financial Controls & Bank Reconciliation: Oversee comprehensive daily and monthly bank reconciliations, multi-channel payment portal settlements, and credit card merchant entries. Audit internal electronic point of sale (EPOS) financial systems, trace transaction variances, and implement standard cash control procedures.
- Trade Ledger & Debtor Management: Manage the company’s complex commercial debtor’s ledger. Conduct regular customer account credit reviews, execute monthly statement reconciliations, manage aging trade debts, and generate corporate ledger status reports.
- Creditor Accounts & Supply chain Finance: Oversee the creditors' ledger and execute high-value monthly supplier statement reconciliations against corporate purchase orders and inventory intake sheets. Actively analyse, monitor, and calculate high-volume supplier rebates and assist with scheduled corporate supplier pay runs.
- Statutory Compliance & Taxation: Manage and assist with end-to-end statutory taxation compliance. Prepare corporate financial documentation for the filing of Revenue returns, focusing on monthly Value Added Tax (VAT).
- Management Reporting & Month-End Operations: Drive month-end close routines, oversee general ledger journal entries, and balance sheet integrity. Generate, compile, and publish formal management accounts, cost-benefit analyses, and budget variance reports for executive review.
- Payroll Administration: Coordinate and execute the end-to-end processing of corporate weekly and monthly payroll cycles, ensuring absolute compliance with statutory PAYE regulations and employee benefit tracking.
- Year-End Auditing & Corporate Governance: Oversee year-end reconciliation workflows, manage fixed asset registers, and directly coordinate and liaise with Auditor to ensure seamless statutory annual audits.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline (NFQ Level 8/9 standard preferred).
- Progressing toward or holding an Accounting Technician qualification (ATI / IATI) or equivalent professional accountancy body frameworks (ACCA/CPA/CAI).
- Proven experience in financial analysis, internal audit tracking, or high-volume corporate reconciliation.
- Proficient in corporate ERP accounting platforms and advanced numerical data analysis via Microsoft Excel.
