Job summary

Tuath Housing Association in Dublin seeks an Accountant (Part Qualified) to manage management accounts, rental income, service charges and reconciliations. You will support monthly and year-end reporting and work closely with the Finance Manager.

Qualifications

  • Studying towards ACCA/CIMA or a qualified Accountant.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel); knowledge of SAGE 200 desirable.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare management accounts across cost, revenue, rental income and service charges.
  • Reconcile rental income and service charges; ensure accuracy with the general ledger (Sage 200).
  • Process payments and administer service charge accounting across schemes.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes.
  • Maintain records with full documentation for reporting to management and auditors.
  • Liaise with other departments on billing queries and handovers.

JOB SUMMARY:

Management Accounts preparation involving working across all areas of the management accounts, including Cost, Revenue, Rental Income, Service Charges, Debtors, and Reconciliations, to support the timely and accurate production of monthly and annual management accounts. The role is responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of rental income and service charge reporting, performing daily rent reconciliations, monitoring and reconciling service charge expenditure, processing service charge payments, reviewing Owners' Management Company (OMC) budgets and financial statements, assessing sinking fund adequacy, and providing financial analysis and reporting to support effective decision‑making and audit requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reporting directly from Dublin Office in Santry to the Senior Accountant, preparing weekly/ month end/ad‑hoc/ Year end reports to aid in the production of the Management Accounts.
  • Responsibility for all areas regarding Payment and Availability (P&A) Income, Public Private Partnership, Recoup Income and other income generated by Tuath Housing.
  • Responsibility for the reconciliation, monitoring, and reporting of rental income across the organisation, ensuring rental income recorded in the housing management systems reconciles accurately to the general ledger in Sage 200.
  • Perform daily rent reconciliations, investigate and resolve reconciling items promptly, and liaise with the rent department, and Finance colleagues to ensure all rent receipts are accurately recorded and allocated.
  • Review, validate, and process service charge invoices for payment, ensuring appropriate approvals, accurate coding, and compliance with internal controls and Delegation of Authority requirements.
  • Administer service charge accounting processes, including the recording, reconciliation, monitoring, and reporting of service charge expenditure across schemes.
  • Prepare monthly rental income reconciliations and reporting schedules for management accounts, audit requirements, and year‑end financial reporting purposes.
  • Assisting with Month end and Year end Accounting Processes
  • Maintaining excellent records with full paperwork back up available for all work for reporting top management and Auditors.
  • Liaising with Development department regarding Billing queries and Development to Finance Handover information.
  • Assist in analysing, recording, and processing fixed assets and capitalizations to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Keeping accurate records of P&A Agreements for reference, reconciliation purposes, future Rent Reviews, and assessment during Audits
  • Building and maintaining relationship with colleagues, funders, and Local Authorities.
  • Working individually and as part of the Finance function to maximise collection and control of debtors, by phone, letters, emails, and any other means of correspondence.
  • Liaising monthly with Tuath's Major funder the Housing Finance Agency (HFA) with up‑to‑date P&A information and Bank statement when necessary.
  • Ensuring P&A funds are paid into the HFA designated account in compliance with Tuath Loan Covenants
  • Perform Rent Reviews promptly on P&A Agreements and ensuring they are done as quickly as possible.
  • General and reciprocal cover for the other Revenue Accountant and Finance Assistant in the team.
  • Cost Analysis and reports in relation to the Tuath's expenditure monthly.
  • Training in of new staff.
  • Building a departmental SharePoint page to house training notes and useful links for other departments
  • Subvention analysis - Revenue invoicing and Cost analysis.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Preferably strong accounts experience. Good knowledge of debits / credits. Previous experience an advantage.
  • Studying towards Accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA etc) or qualified Accountant
  • Strong Work ethic and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions & work on own initiative.
  • Experience working in a busy Finance environment. Report daily to the Senior Finance Manager to ensure there is excellent communication and co‑ordination within the Finance team.
  • Proficient in MS Office - excel.
  • Knowledge of SAGE 200 Financial System desirable.
  • Good working knowledge of SharePoint
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in income accounting, reconciliations, and large‑volume data analysis, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Competent to work in a pressurized environment.
  • Must be capable of working as part of a team.
