Job summary

Canada Life Assurance Europe plc in Dublin is seeking an experienced accountant to join our finance team, supporting control and reporting requirements and helping integrate the latest technology to enhance our financial processes.

You will deliver accurate financial, regulatory, and management reporting while maintaining a strong control framework in line with ICOFR and IFRS standards. Knowledge of SAP or Oracle is advantageous; German language skills are a plus.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Finance Manager and based in Dublin, we are hiring an experienced accountant for CLE. In this role you will work with an experienced team of multi‑disciplined experienced accountants to support the control and reporting requirements of the company. You will support the development, integration and deployment of the latest technology in order to support the wider strategic finance agenda.

What you will help us to achieve

This role will support the finance team in integrating developments on the business’s administration platform with financial systems and processes, delivering expense updates, control account reconciliations and supporting the financial reporting process including but not limited to the following:

• Deliver accurate and timely financial, regulatory, and management reporting
• Maintain and evolve the strong financial control environment, ensuring compliance with ICOFR, regulatory standards, and internal policies
• Provide clear financial analysis and insights, including variance reporting to support business performance and decision‑making
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational objectives
• Drive process efficiencies and innovation by supporting the implementation of new financial systems and the use of automation and AI to enhance reporting, controls, and operational effectiveness
• Support local and global projects and act as subject matter expert for Finance

More specific responsibilities will include

The key organisational relationships for the role include the following:

• Finance team
• Business operational functions such as Actuarial, IS, Operations, Risk and Internal Audit
• Canadian parent and European wide finance partners
• External support providers e.g. technology platforms

What you will need to be successful in the role

The ideal candidate would possess the following capabilities and attributes:

Analytical and Problem‑Solving Skills

• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving ability; ability to analyse results and produce and present analysis and insights that drive resource allocation and prioritisation.
• Proficiency in using digital and analytics tools and software in the delivery of the role of finance.
• Knowledge of SAP (Ledger and Expense Module)/Oracle would be beneficial.

Adaptability and Resilience

• Flexibility, resilience, and adaptability to work in a fast‑paced, results focused environment.
• Keeps current with wider market developments and trends.

Technical and Professional Expertise

• Member of an accounting body (ACA, CIMA, ACCA).
• Knowledge of IFRS 17 and Solvency II would be an advantage – but not essential
• Adoption of Ai applications to deliver value will be a key advantage
• German language skills an advantage
