Job summary

Wygram Nursing Home in Wexford Town is seeking a diligent Laundry/Housekeeping/Accommodation Assistant to join our team. The role involves daily cleaning, laundry duties, and supporting residents with their clothing and linen needs, while upholding infection prevention guidelines.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with housekeeping, nursing and care teams, demonstrating a hands-on approach, strong attention to detail and a professional, caring nature.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role (laundry, housekeeping or accommodation assistant).
• Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is always maintained for residents.
• Daily cleaning of common areas and residents' rooms.
• Check stock levels of consumables and replace when needed.
• Assist with waste management.
• Launder, sort, wash, dry, fold and return residents' clothing and linen timely.
• Operate laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
• Label and organise residents' clothes to ensure correct return.
• Follow infection prevention and control procedures.
• Monitor laundry supplies and notify management when stock runs low.
• Maintain a clean, safe laundry environment.
• Report damaged clothing, linen or equipment to management.
• Work collaboratively with housekeeping, nursing and care teams.

Job Profile

The ideal applicant for this job will have experience as a laundry, housekeeping or accommodation assistant along with the ability to work both as part of a team and your own initiative. The successful candidate will need to have good work ethic as well as a hands‑on approach.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is always maintained in our home for the enjoyment and safety of our residents


• Daily cleaning of common areas and residents' rooms


• Checking stock levels of all consumables and replacing when appropriate


• Assisting with waste management


• Ensuring all residents' clothing, bedding, towels, and linen are collected, sorted, washed, dried, folded, and returned in a timely manner


• Operating laundry equipment safely and efficiently while following manufacturer guidelines and company procedures


• Maintaining accurate labelling and organisation of residents' personal clothing to ensure items are returned correctly


• Adhering to infection prevention and control procedures at all times


• Monitoring laundry supplies and notifying management when stock levels require replenishment


• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised laundry environment


• Reporting any damaged clothing, linen, or equipment to the appropriate manager


• Working collaboratively with housekeeping, nursing, and care teams to support the comfort and wellbeing of residents


• Following all health and safety policies and procedures
