Job summary

K2 STRATEGIC is seeking a Technical Specialist to provide specialist technical support, training, and oversight within a live data centre environment in Ireland. The role covers 24/7/365 operations, emergency response, and ensuring maintenance documentation aligns with the subcontractor schedule across multiple facilities.

You will coordinate maintenance, supervise contractors, deliver staff training, and drive health and safety standards while maintaining detailed records of activity and system

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualification (e.g. Electrician) or degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with UPS, MV/LV distribution, standby generators and SCADA/BMS platforms.
• Proven ability to work in live data centres or mission-critical facilities.
• Strong fault diagnosis and problem-solving skills under pressure.
• Experience with PPM maintenance strategy and asset lifecycle planning.
• Ability to review RAMS and manage work permits.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and reporting.
• Flexible to support varying shifts and operational demands.

Responsibilities

• Maintain uptime of critical systems through hands-on technical support and supervision.
• Lead scheduled and reactive maintenance; ensure compliance via the DFM platform.
• Coordinate maintenance activities across the Data Centre with operations teams.
• Review and approve RAMS; manage work permits.
• Oversee day-to-day operations and live activities across the facility.
• Supervise contractors and vendors; ensure adherence to safety standards.
• Deliver technical training to site staff and run readiness drills.
• Assist in creating/reviewing SOPs/EOPs/MOPs and involve the team in drills.
• Maintain shift activity records, work orders, and system performance via DFM/logs.
• Promote health and safety compliance and PPE usage; address safety concerns.
• Support emergency response and commissioning works as required.
