Job summary

United Utilities seeks a Design Manager / Project Engineer to lead design across water network and process projects in Lancashire and Cumbria. You will coordinate internal teams and external consultants, guiding projects from requirements through to handover and through-life management.

This role involves people management in matrix environments and deputising for senior roles as needed. You will champion safe-to-build designs, engage with procurement, and maintain stakeholder relations,

Qualifications

• Proven leadership of project engineering management.
• Experience with health, safety and well-being requirements in delivery of projects (CDM).
• Degree level Engineering qualification or equivalent (HNC/HND).
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or pursuing the status.

Responsibilities

• Lead design development ensuring designs are safe to build and operate.
• Collaborate with Project Manager to deliver project outcomes.
• Manage multi-disciplinary teams across a matrix organisation.
• Engage with consultants and procure services as needed.
• Represent the business externally and drive project delivery through lifecycle.
