Position Purpose

The VP Operations & Business Development is responsible for leading, integrating, and optimizing tin mining operations while driving strategic business development initiatives to support sustainable growth, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and long‑term value creation for the company’s mining business.

This role acts as a senior business leader who bridges site operations, production performance, mine planning, regulatory compliance, stakeholder management, and commercial / business expansion.

The ideal candidate must have proven experience in the same or highly relevant mining industry, preferably tin mining, mineral mining, or mining operations in Indonesia.

Key Responsibilities
1. Operations Leadership

Lead overall mining operations to ensure safe, efficient, compliant, and productive operations across assigned mining sites.

Oversee daily and strategic operational performance, including production planning, mine execution, equipment utilization, manpower productivity, contractor performance, and cost control.

Ensure operational targets are achieved in line with approved mine plans, RKAB, production targets, budget, and company objectives.

Drive operational discipline across mining, processing, hauling, logistics, maintenance, and supporting functions.

Monitor operational KPIs, identify performance gaps, and implement corrective actions to improve output, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

Ensure strong coordination between site operations, technical team, finance, procurement, legal, HSE, and management.

2. Mine Planning & Production Optimization

Provide strategic direction for short‑term, medium‑term, and long‑term mine planning.

Work closely with technical teams to ensure mine plans are practical, commercially viable, and aligned with available reserves / resources.

Review production data, recovery rate, stripping ratio, mining sequence, equipment readiness, and operational constraints.

Identify opportunities to improve mining methods, production efficiency, ore recovery, and processing performance.

Ensure production plans are aligned with permit requirements, environmental obligations, and business targets.

3. Business Development & Growth Strategy

Identify, assess, and develop business growth opportunities within the tin mining sector and adjacent mining opportunities.

Lead feasibility review and commercial assessment for potential new mining areas, partnerships, acquisitions, joint operations, or business expansion.

Evaluate new opportunities from operational, technical, commercial, legal, environmental, and regulatory perspectives.

Build business cases for strategic initiatives, including investment proposals, operational expansion, partnership models, and improvement projects.

Support management in developing long‑term growth strategy for the mining portfolio.

Ensure all mining activities comply with applicable Indonesian mining regulations, company policies, HSE standards, environmental obligations, and permit requirements.

Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders regarding IUP, RKAB, environmental permits, reporting obligations, reclamation, post‑mining plans, and other regulatory matters.

Work closely with Legal, HSE, Technical, and Government Relations teams to manage compliance risks.

Ensure disciplined documentation, reporting, and follow‑up related to regulatory and operational compliance.

Maintain strong awareness of regulatory changes affecting mining operations and business development plans.

5. HSE, Sustainability & Risk Management

Champion a strong safety culture and ensure HSE is embedded in daily operations and strategic decision‑making.

Monitor key HSE indicators and ensure corrective / preventive actions are implemented effectively.

Ensure environmental management, reclamation, waste handling, and community impact are properly managed.

Identify operational and business risks, including safety, production, contractor, regulatory, environmental, financial, and reputational risks.

Drive continuous improvement in risk mitigation and operational governance.

6. Contractor & Stakeholder Management

Oversee contractor performance to ensure delivery against agreed scope, safety standards, productivity targets, and commercial terms.

Build effective working relationships with local government, regulators, community leaders, business partners, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

Resolve operational and stakeholder issues with a balanced approach between business needs, compliance, and long‑term relationship management.

Ensure all external relationships are managed professionally and ethically.

Manage operational budget, cost efficiency, and profitability improvement initiatives.

Review cost drivers across mining operations, contractors, logistics, equipment, manpower, and processing.

Support financial planning, forecasting, and business performance review.

Monitor operational profitability and recommend actions to improve margin, productivity, and cash generation.

Ensure proposed business development initiatives are commercially sound and supported by proper financial analysis.

Lead, coach, and develop site leaders, operational teams, and business development teams.

Build a performance‑driven culture based on accountability, collaboration, safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.

Ensure the organization has the required technical, operational, and leadership capabilities to support business growth.

Drive talent development, succession readiness, and team effectiveness across the mining business.

Act as a role model in demonstrating integrity, growth mindset, collaboration, execution discipline, and digital readiness.

Required Qualifications
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Metallurgy, Industrial Engineering, Business, Finance, or related discipline.

Master’s degree in Business, Management, Mining, or related field is preferred.

Experience

Minimum 15 years of professional experience in mining operations, with significant exposure to senior operational leadership.

Minimum 5 years in senior management role, preferably at GM, Head of Operations, COO, Director, or VP level.

Must have direct experience in tin mining or highly relevant mineral mining operations.

Strong preference for candidates with experience in:

Tin mining operations

Mineral mining in Indonesia

Mine operations and production leadership

Business development in mining sector

RKAB, IUP, permitting, HSE, and regulatory compliance

Mandatory Industry Background

The candidate must come from the same or directly relevant industry, preferably:
