Job summary

AIA Indonesia is seeking an experienced Underwriter (Syariah) to lead the Syariah underwriting function and establish robust governance, ensuring compliance with regulatory and Syariah principles while supporting NewCo's growth and service objectives.

The role covers strategic oversight of underwriting standards, risk appetite, and exception policies, along with overseeing ParentCo operations to meet SLAs and quality targets. Strong leadership and English communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor degree of Medicine, Nursing, or related field.
• At least 5 years relevant experience in underwriting insurance.
• At least 3 years relevant experience in new business insurance.
• At least 5 years have experience in managerial level in insurance or financial company.
• Having strong analysis and good leadership.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation and organizational skill.
• Good communication in English, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Provides strategic oversight to ensure underwriting aligns with Syariah, product, and profitability goals.
• Defines and maintains underwriting standards, risk appetite, and exception policies.
• Makes decisions on escalated cases outside standard SOP.
• Monitors underwriting outcomes to inform strategic interventions or policy updates.
• Oversees ParentCo’s underwriting operations to ensure SLA and quality alignment.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory, internal, and Syariah underwriting standards.
• Reviews performance and exception reports for policy refinement.
• Ensures ParentCo underwriter are trained on NewCo-specific products and Syariah principles.

About The Role
