Job summary

PT Merauke Sugar Group requires an Agriculture Scientist to support the Cane Harvest and Transport department in optimising harvest scheduling and sugar production. The role involves surveying maturity curves, analysing trial and mill data, and leading reporting on ripener trials for internal and external partners.

You will mentor junior staff in sugarcane physiology, maturation management, and data-driven decision making, while assisting with budget monitoring and cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or Agriculture required.
• Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Knowledge of plant physiology and growth regulator responses.
• Experience with experimental design and statistical analysis in field trials.
• Ability to work with large datasets and identify correlations.

Responsibilities

• Develop systems and data for the Cane Harvest and Transport department to optimise harvest scheduling.
• Contribute to ripener application program development.
• Support budgeting, expenditure monitoring, and cost control.
• Conduct maturity surveys and monitor maturity curves in production.
• Lead data analysis from mill trials and report ripener trials.
• Train and mentor junior staff in sugarcane maturation and physiology.
