Job summary

Plan International Indonesia is seeking a Sponsorship Communications Manager based in Kupang to lead strategic sponsorship communications and operations. Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in development-related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in child sponsorship.
  • Minimum 2 years of field work with children and communities.
  • Demonstrated strong management, coordination and planning in NGO settings.
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple tasks and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery and quality of sponsorship communications across partners and programmes.
  • Monitor sponsorship performance, KPIs, and processes, driving improvements.
  • Ensure child-centred, safe engagement with sponsored children, families and communities.
  • Strengthen integration between sponsorship and programme implementation.
  • Lead, coach and develop the Sponsorship team, ensuring workload balance and wellbeing.
  • Ensure safeguarding, data protection and regulatory compliance in all activities.
  • Drive innovation and digitalisation of sponsorship systems and tools.
  • Develop impact stories and evidence to demonstrate long-term sponsorship impact.

Position Summary

Sponsorship Communications Manager provides strategic and technical leadership for child sponsorship and sponsorship communications at YPII, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and compliance with global standards and safeguarding requirements. The role manages sponsorship operations, sponsor-child communication, systems, and stakeholder engagement while driving innovation, digitalisation, impact storytelling, and sponsor retention. It also collaborates across functions to integrate sponsorship with programmes, resource mobilisation, communications, safeguarding, finance, and operations to support the sustainability and growth of YPII’s sponsorship portfolio.

Location

This role and project will be based in Kupang. Candidates must be authorized to work in Indonesia as visa sponsorship cannot be provided for this role.

Reporting And Supervision
  • Reports to: Resource Mobilization Director, Yayasan Plan International Indonesia.
  • Directly supervises: two Sponsorship Specialists and two Sponsorship Supervisors.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery and quality of sponsorship communication products, ensuring compliance with Plan International standards, safeguarding requirements, and agreed timelines.
  • Monitor sponsorship performance, caseloads, KPIs, and processes across Project Implementation Areas (PIAs), and drive timely improvements.
  • Ensure meaningful, child-centred, and safe engagement with sponsored children, families, communities, sponsors, and other stakeholders.
  • Strengthen integration between sponsorship and programme implementation, ensuring communications reflect programme impact and benefits for children and communities.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Sponsorship team, ensuring effective performance, balanced workloads, and staff well-being.
  • Ensure strong risk management, safeguarding, data protection, and regulatory compliance across all sponsorship activities.
  • Drive innovation, digitalisation, and continuous improvement of sponsorship systems, tools, and processes.
  • Lead the development of impact stories, evidence, and learning to demonstrate the longer‑term impact of sponsorship and strengthen sponsor experience.
  • Collaborate closely with Programme, Communications, Resource Mobilisation, M&E, Finance, and Operations teams to support the sustainability and growth of YPII’s sponsorship portfolio.
  • Ensures Safeguarding, PSHEA, and GEDSI policies and principles are embedded in daily work through active participation in capacity building, compliance with required standards and documentation, and adherence to the Code of Conduct. Ensures concerns are appropriately reported and managed in line with established procedures.
Qualifications And Experience
Experience and Knowledge
  • Bachelor Degree on Development Management, Social Science, Development Economics, or related field such as Management, International Relations, Public Administration or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in child sponsorship sector.
  • Minimum of 2 years of field work with children and communities
  • Demonstrated strong management, coordination, teamwork and planning skills with proven ability to function effectively in an NGO sector
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform
  • Adopts an appropriate communication style when communicating with the whole range of colleagues, partners, Children and communities; exhibits active listening and effective feedback; ability to clearly and convincingly express thoughts and ideas in written and verbal form (proficient).
  • Adopts appropriate tools and methodologies to facilitate disadvantaged children, families (knowledgeable).
  • Adopts a team style which adds value to work and reinforces good working practices.
  • Demonstrates an understanding about the Child Protection Policy and compliance, applies the possible protection measures within the scope of job, and provides inputs for strengthening child protection measures.
