Job summary

Oxford University Clinical Research Unit Vietnam (oucru) is seeking a TB Program Coordinator based in Jakarta with periodic field travel to Purbalingga and Lombok Barat. The role focuses on data entry, care-plan tracking, and collaboration with TB PICs to improve TB reporting and patient care.

• Build relationships with TB PICs to address resistance and improve adherence.
• Provide regular progress reports and flag operational bottlenecks.

Background

The Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) is a large-scale clinical and public health research unit, with site offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in Vietnam, Jakarta in Indonesia and Kathmandu in Nepal. In Vietnam, we are hosted by the Hospital of Tropical Diseases (HTD) in Ho Chi Minh City, and the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (NHTD) in Hanoi. OUCRU Nepal closely collaborates with the National Academy of Medical Sciences in Kathmandu, and OUCRU Indonesia exists in partnership with the University of Indonesia. As a Wellcome Trust Africa Asia Programme, we have received considerable support from the Wellcome Trust since our establishment in 1991.

OUCRU’s vision is to have local, regional and global impact on health by leading a locally driven research programme on infectiousdiseases in Southeast Asia. Priority is given to health issues important to the hospitals where we work, and to the countries as a whole where we operate: Vietnam, Indonesia and Nepal. • Bachelor’s (S1) or Master’s (S2) degree in Public Health, Medicine, Nursing, or a related health/social science field Prior experience in TB (Tuberculosis) programs, community health, or clinical epidemiology is an advantage
• English level: Professional working proficiency in English, written and spoken
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in public health programs, TB/infectious disease control, or field/program coordination
• Experience working with Puskesmas, Dinas Kesehatan, or community health cadres is an advantage
• Able to work effectively and stay organized in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
• Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage constructively with TB Persons in Charge (PIC) who may be resistant to change
• Willing to travel between Puskesmas in both Kabupaten Purbalingga and Lombok Barat

Key Responsibilities

Serve as TB (Tuberculosis) Program Coordinator for the two program kabupaten, with responsibilities including:

• Ensure timely and accurate TB case data entry into the reporting/surveillance system, reducing the current data input lag (currently up to several weeks) to within 24 hours of case identification
• Design, implement, and actively monitor structured care-plan tracking for TB patients to ensure they receive their full rights to diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care
• Build collaborative working relationships with TB Persons in Charge (PIC) at facility/Puskesmas level to address resistance and strengthen adherence to TB reporting and care protocols
• Responsible to the improvement of TB diagnosis and treatment coverage and quality across both kabupaten, working closely with Puskesmas staff, Dinas Kesehatan, and program leadership
• Provide regular progress reports to supervisors/PI and proactively flag operational bottlenecks
