Job summary

Bright School in Jakarta Selatan seeks a qualified Special Education Teacher for a Montessori-aligned SPED program. You will design IEPs, deliver individualized instruction, and collaborate with therapists and staff to support diverse learning needs.

You will promote independence and emotional regulation while collecting progress data, maintaining records, and safeguarding student wellbeing. A Bachelor's degree and 1 year SPED experience are required; Montessori-aligned practice is encouraged.

Special Education Teacher (Montessori-Aligned SPED Program)

Bright School is seeking a qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our growing Special Education Department. The successful candidate will support students with diverse learning needs through individualized, evidence-based, and Montessori-aligned instruction, while promoting independence, emotional regulation, and meaningful participation in school life.

Key responsibilities

Develop, implement, and review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

Deliver structured, individualized instruction aligned with Montessori and SPED principles

Manage daily SPED classroom routines, schedules, and work cycles

Implement behavior support, emotional regulation, and functional skill strategies

Collect and analyse student data to inform instruction and interventions

Collaborate with Montessori and mainstream teachers, SPED Coordinators and Department Head, and therapists and specialists

Communicate student progress clearly and professionally with families

Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and progress monitoring records

Uphold all safeguarding, confidentiality, and child protection policies

About you

Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, Education, or a related field

Minimum of 1 year experience managing or co-managing a Special Education classroom: 18 months to 18 years

Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disabilities, developmental delays, and behavioural, emotional, or communication needs

Basic knowledge of IEP development and implementation

Willingness to learn and apply Montessori-aligned practices within SPED settings

Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills

Good communication and documentation skills

Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, and ethical practice

Patient, reflective, and child-centered

Flexible and open to feedback and professional growth
