As a Software Architect at TechMaju, you will provide technical leadership for the architecture and delivery of our software platform and large, complex software projects.
You will work across engineering, product, and solutions teams to translate business requirements into scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems. You will guide architectural decisions, manage technical complexity, and help engineering teams successfully deliver systems into production.
Because our platform and products are AI-first, you will also help shape our AI architecture. You do not need to be an AI researcher, but you should be willing to develop a strong practical understanding of modern AI technologies, experiment with new approaches, and determine how they can be reliably incorporated into production software.
Define and evolve the architecture of TechMaju's platform and major customer solutions.
Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical architectures.
Establish architectural principles, patterns, standards, and technical guidelines.
Make key decisions around system design, APIs, data, integrations, infrastructure, security, and technology selection.
Evaluate trade-offs across scalability, reliability, maintainability, delivery speed, and cost.
Provide technical direction and mentorship to engineers and technical leads.
Lead the technical design and architecture of large, multi-team software projects.
Break complex systems into clear components, services, integrations, and implementation phases.
Identify technical dependencies, risks, and architectural decisions early in the project lifecycle.
Coordinate architecture across applications, teams, and external systems.
Work closely with engineering and project leadership to ensure designs can be successfully implemented and operated.
Help resolve complex technical issues that span multiple systems or teams.
Help architect and evolve TechMaju's AI-first platform, including AI models, services, workflows, agents, data, and traditional software components.
Develop a practical understanding of technologies such as Large Language Models (LLMs), retrieval, tool use, context management, and agentic workflows.
Research and evaluate emerging AI models, frameworks, and engineering approaches relevant to our platform.
Build or guide prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate new AI capabilities.
Design architectures that combine conventional software with AI-driven components in reliable and maintainable ways.
Consider accuracy, non-deterministic behavior, latency, cost, security, privacy, observability, and reliability when designing AI-enabled systems.
Help establish engineering practices for testing, evaluating, monitoring, and operating AI capabilities in production.
We do not expect you to be an AI researcher or machine learning scientist. However, you should be comfortable going beyond simply consuming AI APIs- investigating how AI technologies work, understanding their limitations, and developing the technical depth required to make sound architectural decisions.
Establish standards for code quality, testing, APIs, documentation, security, and maintainability.
Lead architecture and technical design reviews.
Promote effective CI/CD, DevOps, observability, and production-readiness practices.
Identify and reduce technical debt and systemic technical risks.
Balance long-term architecture with practical business and delivery requirements.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Significant professional software engineering experience with complex production systems.
Experience as a Software Architect, Solution Architect, Technical Lead, Principal Engineer, or similar senior technical role.
Proven experience designing and delivering large software projects involving multiple systems, integrations, teams, or stakeholders.
Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation through deployment and production operations.
Strong software engineering and system design fundamentals.
Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, system integrations, and relational databases.
Experience with cloud platforms, Docker, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and modern DevOps practices.
Understanding of application security, scalability, performance, observability, and high-availability systems.
Ability to evaluate technologies based on technical fit, business value, operational impact, and maintainability.
Professional AI experience is beneficial but not required.
Experience or familiarity with the following is a plus:
Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI APIs.
Retrieval and knowledge systems.
AI agents and workflow automation.
AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, OpenCode, or similar tools.
Evaluation and monitoring of AI-enabled applications.
