Job summary

The Power Business is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to bolster our capability in delivering high voltage substation designs for transmission and distribution clients across Australasia. This role offers growth into leadership and opportunities to work with teams in Australia and New Zealand.

You will lead design work, mentor junior staff, and ensure designs meet IEC, AS/NZS and IEEE standards while coordinating with international teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years in high voltage design for electrical networks.
• Understanding IEC, AS/NZS, and IEEE standards.
• Understanding substation layouts and Single Line Diagrams.
• CT and VT sizing calculations.
• Organised and able to multi-task.
• Excellent written & spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia.
• Consultancy experience is advantageous.

• Develop and design electrical designs of transmission and distribution substations up to 500 kV.
• Work under supervision of a Principal Engineer (local and/or international).
• Mentor, develop, and lead junior staff in delivering and preparing designs.
• Develop understanding of Australian and New Zealand client standards.
• Undertake self-checks of work packages using standard checklists, preparing packages for verification and quality checks.
• Collaborate with teams based in Australia and New Zealand to deliver coordinated designs to meet client expectations.

With a strong pipeline of exciting projects, our team is growing. We are looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to bolster our technical capability to deliver high voltage substation designs to an enviable list of transmission and distribution clients.

This opportunity is an exciting and varied role for an enthusiastic individual willing to grow into a leader which will allow you to be involved in major energy transition projects in Australia and New Zealand alongside a high performing team.

In this role, the key responsibilities include:

• Development and design of electrical designs of transmission and distribution substations up to voltages of 500kV;
• Work under the supervision of a Principal Engineer (local and/or international);
• Mentor, develop, and lead junior staff in delivering and preparing designs;
• Develop understanding of Australian and New Zealand client standards;
• Undertake self-checks of work packages using standard checklists, preparing packages for verification and quality checks;
• Collaborate with teams based in Australia and New Zealand to deliver co-ordinated designs to meet client expectations.

Your technical skills are based on solid fundamentals and have been proven through the delivery of power engineering projects. You are experienced and have a passion for learning and collaborating as part of a wider team and are driven by taking on exciting new opportunities.

Preferably, you will have proven capability across a range of the following areas:

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering;
• Preferably having a minimum of 7+ years working experience in designs for high voltage electricity networks
• Understanding international standards such as IEC, AS/NZS, and IEEE
• Understanding of substation layouts and Single Line Diagrams
• Undertaking calculations for CT and VT sizing
• Be organised and able to multi-task;
• Excellent written & spoken communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia
• Apply strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with a team of engineers and designers (locally and/or internationally) to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget;
• Consultancy experience is advantageous but not essential
