Job summary

PT Asix Indonesia Cerdas in Jakarta is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to provide strategic legal guidance to management and business teams, review and negotiate commercial agreements, and manage regulatory matters.

You will mentor a legal team, monitor regulatory changes, and work with external counsel to protect the company's interests while balancing commercial objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law from a reputable university.
• 10-15 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in-house and/or at a reputable law firm.
• Experience as a lawyer or in a law firm with commercial/corporate matters.
• Strong understanding of legal risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.
• Proven contract drafting, review, negotiation, and commercial agreements.

Job description

Provide strategic legal advice to management and business teams on day-to-day business activities, transactions, and corporate matters

Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and business risks across the company's operations

Review, draft, and negotiate various agreements, contracts, and legal documents to protect the company's interests

Develop and maintain legal policies, procedures, and internal guidelines in line with applicable laws and regulations

Handle and advise on legal disputes, claims, regulatory matters, and potential litigation

Conduct legal reviews and risk assessments for new business initiatives, partnerships, products, and commercial arrangements

Monitor changes in applicable laws and regulations and provide recommendations on their potential impact on the business

Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure business decisions are legally sound while remaining commercially practical

Manage relationships with external counsel, notaries, government authorities, and other relevant legal parties when required

Oversee and provide guidance to the legal team, ensuring timely and high-quality legal support to the business

Support management in developing risk mitigation strategies and making informed business decisions from a legal perspective

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Law from a reputable university; professional legal qualification is a plus

10-15 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with experience in-house and/or at a reputable law firm

Previous experience as a lawyer or in a law firm is highly preferred, particularly in commercial/corporate legal matters

Strong understanding of legal risk identification, assessment, and mitigation

Proven experience in contract drafting, review, negotiation, and commercial agreements

Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, regulatory, and general business law

Experience handling legal disputes, regulatory matters, and/or litigation is a strong advantage

Strong business acumen with the ability to balance legal protection and commercial objectives

Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills

Able to independently assess situations, identify potential risks, and provide practical and actionable legal recommendations

Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple matters and stakeholders simultaneously

Experience managing or mentoring a legal team is preferred
