Job summary
Grab is seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer – Kubernetes & Service Mesh to architect, build, and operate high-scale container and service mesh infrastructure powering Grab's backend services from the Jakarta office. This onsite role reports to Platform Engineering Manager and focuses on platform architecture, reliability, and developer experience.
You will lead multi-cluster AWS EKS strategies, Istio mesh implementations, and cross-team enablement, while mentoring engineers and aligning with
Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional infrastructure/DevOps experience with Kubernetes
- Expert knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and container tech
- Hands-on with AWS/GCP/Azure and multi-cloud setups
- Ability to design automated CI/CD and GitOps workflows
Responsibilities
- Architect and operate large-scale AWS EKS clusters across regions
- Design and deploy Istio service mesh with mTLS, traffic management, canaries
- Establish platform templates, namespaces, network policies, and policy-as-code guardrails
- Build self-service tooling and GitOps to enable developer onboarding
- Mentor engineers and collaborate with Security, SRE, and Networking teams
- Drive incident response, telemetry, and capacity planning across clusters
