Job summary

Client Earth seeks a senior lawyer with strong energy law, policy and regulatory background to advance climate and environmental policy in Southeast Asia and Japan. Remote role with a focus on strengthening energy regulations for renewables and phasing out fossil fuels.

You will engage regulators, corporates and civil society to influence policy and regulatory change. You will lead complex legal research, contribute to strategy, capacity building and advocacy, and collaborate with partners

Qualifications

• Fluent in English (CEFR level C2).
• High level (CEFR level C1/C2) in at least one Southeast Asian language.
• Law degree or equivalent.
• Relevant legal professional qualification in a jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and oversee complex legal research and analysis to shape climate and energy strategy.
• Lead engagement with regulators, policymakers, industry, and civil society for regulatory change.
• Provide expert input into regional programme strategy, budgeting and resource planning.
• Support regional energy regulatory work across Southeast Asia and Japan.
