Job summary

International Institute for Sustainable Development is seeking a Senior Policy Advisor to contribute to energy policy research and engagement in Indonesia, including major projects on carbon pricing and electrification. The role involves coordination with international colleagues, managing research outputs, and engaging with government and non‑government partners.

The position is remote-based in Indonesia with Jakarta preference, offering a 1‑year contract and opportunities to influence policy

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in energy, social science, politics, environment, and climate change or a relevant interdisciplinary program or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in energy and climate policy at national or international level.
• Demonstrated experience building institutional relationships and partnerships.
• Proven ability to produce high‑quality briefing materials for policy-makers and meetings.

Responsibilities

• Lead primary and secondary research in assigned thematic areas related to energy policy.
• Draft and lead editorial work for major English-language research outputs.
• Develop capacity building for governments and parliamentary bodies on law and policy.
• Represent IISD projects to clients and stakeholders at forums, conferences, and events.
• Develop content on law and policy developments for communications and outreach.
• Manage time and inputs to deliver research outputs on schedule and within budget.
