Job summary

World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia seeks a Consultant as Senior Economist to lead economic analysis for the Energy and Sustainable Business program in Jakarta. The role supports a Green Industrial Policy package and net-zero transition work, collaborating with government, industry, and think tanks.

The position is hybrid, based in Jakarta, with 8 days per month in-office. The consultant will develop evidence-based analyses, craft policy recommendations, and deliver decision-ready outputs

Qualifications

• Master's degree in economics or related field; PhD preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of applied economic research and policy analysis.
• Strong quantitative skills including econometrics and sector modelling.
• Familiarity with Indonesia's industrial policy and carbon pricing is a plus.
• Proficient in English and Bahasa Indonesia for technical and policy work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct economic analysis to build the strategic case for clean industry transition in Indonesia.
• Coordinate analysis to identify barriers, market failures, and policy gaps.
• Develop macroeconomic impact analyses and policy packages with partners.
• Translate research findings into policy reports and briefs.
• Engage with government stakeholders and industry partners to support the research.
