Job summary

BukuWarung in Indonesia is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and build backend services and APIs powering payments, lending, and merchant products. You will own services end‑to‑end, emit clean events to the unified data platform, and collaborate with data and ML engineers to enable real‑time decisioning across fintech flows.

This hands‑on role demands 4–6 years backend experience, proficiency in Go, Java, Python, or Node.js, and strong SQL, data modeling, and cloud + containerized

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of professional backend development experience
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Go, Java, Python, or Node.js)
• Experience designing RESTful and/or gRPC APIs and microservices
• Strong grasp of relational databases and data modeling; SQL optimization
• Experience with message queues / streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and caching (Redis)
• Hands-on with cloud platforms, containers, and CI/CD

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend microservices and APIs powering payments, lending, and merchant products
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and participate in design and code reviews
• Model data and schemas for transactional stores and caching/queuing layers
• Build integrations with payment channels, lending flows, and third-party APIs
• Instrument services with logging, metrics, and alerting; participate in on-call and incident response
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and safe deployment practices
