Grab in Jakarta, Indonesia is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale backend platform services for the Business Platform. You will own end-to-end delivery of mission-critical systems, focusing on data models, metadata, and operational workflows that power business onboarding and configuration.

The role demands strong ownership, system design thinking, and mentoring of mid/senior engineers. Onsite in Jakarta with scalable cloud infrastructure and robust CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend/platform engineering experience with production systems.
• Strong knowledge of Go, Java, or Kotlin.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and data modeling.
• Familiarity with cloud stacks (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerization.
• Experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Proficient in code quality, testing, and Git version control.
• SaaS or ecommerce domain experience and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design of microservices and high-throughput APIs.
• Diagnose performance bottlenecks and improve low latency systems.
• Own end-to-end delivery from design docs to production deployment.
• Drive code quality via reviews and reliability standards.
• Oversee cloud infra, CI/CD, security, and incident management.
