Job summary

Grab is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for its Consumer Experience team in Jakarta. You will design and implement backend services in Go, ensure high availability and performance, and work with product and infra teams on scalable solutions.

The role focuses on end-to-end user journeys from login to home screens, with on-call incident management and mentorship responsibilities. Onsite in Jakarta, full-time position.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related fields.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering within distributed systems.
• Strong CS fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with large-scale web services; knowledge of systems internals and networking.
• Strong understanding of system performance and scaling.
• You can code in any language but are willing to work with Golang.

Responsibilities

• Design and write in Go to improve availability, scalability, latency and efficiency.
• Collaborate with team to create designs and architectures for scale.
• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain quality standards.
• Analyze performance, tune systems and plan capacity for services.
• Partner with product and UX teams to define feature specs.
• Work with infra team to build and scale back-end services and investigate root causes.
• Design, build, analyze and fix large-scale systems.
• Proactively debug and resolve production incidents during oncall shifts.
• Mentor peers and share knowledge within the team.
